On November 9, 2024, Klats Education, in collaboration with INgenius, hosted an engaging interactive online event titled "The Formula for a Career in the USA, Lessons for Ukraine."
The event attracted a large audience of students and young doctors eager to learn about the specifics of medical practice in both countries and explore opportunities to implement best practices in Ukraine.
The speaker was Oleksandr Shumeiko, a graduate of NMU, a gastroenterologist, and an endoscopist. He worked as a faculty member in Ukraine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (USA). Currently, he is pursuing a Gastroenterology fellowship at Brooklyn Medical Center, New York. He has also completed training at the Shizuoka Cancer Center and the National Cancer Center in Japan. Additionally, he is the author and organizer of educational programs in therapy and gastroenterology.
Key topics discussed during the event:— Differences in medical education and training in the USA and Ukraine, from theory to practice;— Residency and fellowship programs in the USA;— Specifics of working as a gastroenterologist;— Which aspects of the U.S. healthcare system could be beneficial to adopt in Ukraine;— Balancing education, clinical practice, and research work.
During the discussion, Oleksandr shared an inspiring insight: "What unites those who enter medical school, successfully complete it, and become accomplished professionals is the understanding that medicine is less about money and more about a lifestyle and a system of values."
The event garnered significant interest, and active participation from attendees underscored the relevance of the topics discussed. Participants gained valuable advice and practical knowledge to help drive the development of the healthcare sector in Ukraine.
A recording of the event is available on the Klats Education YouTube сhannel.
The Klats Education team is excited to continue creating opportunities like this for Ukrainian healthcare professionals!
