With organizational support from Klats Education, a tactical medical care training was held by Força Ukraine for healthcare professionals from the National Scientific Center for Radiation Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
On October 1st, over the course of 6 hours, healthcare workers at the NSCRMO mastered the ASM (All Service Members) basic course on emergency pre-hospital care in combat conditions.
Força Ukraine is an initiative of the non-profit organization The Força Foundation, launched in 2022. Its goal is to improve the medical training of military medics and physicians by equipping them with essential skills and medical equipment to help save lives in critical situations.
Throughout the day, participants learned key skills following the MARCH algorithm: — Primary casualty assessment; — Massive hemorrhage control: tourniquet application, wound packing, pressure bandage application; — Assessment of breathing effectiveness; — Airway management: clearing the oral cavity, head tilt and chin lift/jaw thrust maneuver, and nasopharyngeal airway insertion.
The practical part of the training was divided into three stations, which medics completed in small groups. At the first station, they learned various methods of stopping massive hemorrhages: direct pressure on the wound, tourniquet application, wound packing, and applying pressure bandages. At the second station, they practiced applying tourniquets to stop limb bleeding, including self-application. The third station was focused on airway management, where healthcare professionals worked on inserting a nasopharyngeal airway using mannequins.
This event marked an important step in improving the qualifications of medical professionals in tactical medicine. The Klats Education team expresses deep gratitude to Força Ukraine for organizing the training and for their vital work in educating military medics in Ukraine.
We also sincerely thank our defenders for allowing us to live, work, and become better doctors, as well as for the opportunity to hold such events.
