As part of the collaboration between Klats Education and the O.A. Kysil Student Scientific Society, a lecture on "Gender-Based Violence" was held on March 13, 2024, at the O.O. Bohomolets National Medical University.
The speakers were international experts:
- Clémentine Blateau - french expert in Women Peace and Security. Alma mater - McGill University, Faculty of Law.- Daria Popova - GESI expert. Worked on gender-based violence in medicine with WHO in Ukraine.
During the lecture, important issues were discussed:
- Gender-based violence in medicine- The impact of intimate partner violence
- The role of healthcare professionals in assisting victims of such violence
- Legislative aspects and protocols
- Clear recommendations for doctors on helping victims of gender-based violence
- Sexual violence against men in wartime
- How to inquire about violence.
This topic is rightfully one of the critical issues in modern medicine, which concerns medical professionals from their student years. About 20 medical students, intern doctors, and specialists from related fields attended the event.
In addition, the speakers conducted an interesting and unique interactive session with the audience, which practically helped illuminate the consequences of violence in society and demonstrated ways to address this problem.
