Klats Education joined the implementation of the Educate The Educators training program for David Nott Foundation trainers, specifically surgeons and anesthesiologists. The aim of the program was to strengthen trainers’ communication skills with students, improve feedback mechanisms, and advance overall teaching competencies.
In cooperation with our partners from the David Nott Foundation and the WHO, we conducted several training events. The lead speaker of these events was Steven Donnelly, MD in Emergency Medicine, Klats Education expert in emergency medicine, team physician and trainer at Força Ukraine, and an experienced trainer, who developed the program framework and together with participants reviewed teaching styles and the role of educators in the medical field. The educator-participants were able to immediately reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical workshops focused on student engagement and audience management.
A special emphasis of these programs was a practical training on providing feedback to students taught by the trainers. Participants received tools and mechanisms for giving feedback and for constructively responding to feedback themselves. Vladyslav Kravchenko, co-founder of Klats Ed, actively contributed to the implementation of this feedback practicum.
We also engaged external experts in the training program:- Olena Hurzhiy, ophthalmologist, uveitis specialist, head of the Visium Academy, with practical experience in medical education projects since 2015, and a Master’s in Medical Education, conducted a training on modern teaching methods. Dr. Olena focused on the current challenges of the medical education system and its key trends.- Oleksandr Zaioma, public speaking instructor, communications expert, and speechwriter, led an original practical workshop on communication titled “Soft skills for hard tasks: how public speaking helps influence and inspire”, where participants discussed the importance of communication in educational work.- Pavlo Kovtoniuk, co-founder of the Ukrainian Health Center (UHC), and former Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine (2016–2019), conducted a practical workshop on healthcare financing titled “Who pays for our health?”, where he thoroughly explored the topic of healthcare financing through interactive audience engagement.
As a result, 36 trainers from the David Nott Foundation improved their soft skills and gained practical tools for implementing new training sessions.
For our team, this became an important milestone and a kind of “anchor” in the field of developing and implementing educational programs.
