Summary of the Online School for Medical Educators
In November–December, the Klats Education team, in collaboration with FAIMER and with the support of ЗMIN Foundation, implemented the online school Teaching Health Forward—a program for medical educators and education professionals from across Ukraine.
The online school lasted four days and took place on November 13, 14, 21, and December 2. A total of 32 medical educators from different regions of Ukraine participated, representing medical educational institutions and civil society organizations.
The speaker of the online school was Dr. Lyuba Konopasek, Executive Director of FAIMER and Senior Vice President of Intealth, an expert in the field of medical education.
Program and Format
Within the framework of the online school, four webinars were delivered, focusing on key aspects of teaching in medical education:● effective feedback and the coaching approach;● the role of motivation in teaching practice;● creating a positive and productive learning environment;● situational leadership and conflict management.
What Did Participants Find Most Valuable? In their feedback, participants most often highlighted the small-group format as one that:● enables deeper engagement with the topics;● creates space for discussing real-life cases from practice;● fosters a sense of professional support and community, even in an online format.
Based on feedback results (n = 20), 95% of respondents rated the sessions as “interesting” or “very interesting,” with 65% selecting “very interesting.” Comments frequently included descriptors such as “well-structured,” “practical,” and “professional,” and emphasized the high quality of interaction with the speaker.
Practical Learning Outcomes
Participants noted that the most applicable tools for their teaching practice included:● approaches to providing feedback (in particular, the Ask–Tell–Ask model and other structured frameworks);● lesson planning and formulating learning objectives based on Bloom’s taxonomy;● understanding the role of motivation, stress, and a supportive environment in the learning process;● leadership and communication approaches in challenging situations.
The Teaching Health Forward: FAIMER Sessions for Educators online school became an example of an educational format that combines learning, professional exchange, and interaction among medical educators in a safe, supportive, and reflective environment.
The experience gained and the feedback received from participants will inform the further development of the Teaching Health Forward initiative and new formats for supporting and connecting medical educators.
